Help Us Put kind Words and Sweet Books Into Kids' Hands

 

Every child deserves to feel proud of who they are. Perri's Pencil Problem gives young readers the words and confidence to navigate microaggressions, embrace their identity, and choose kindness. Many classrooms, libraries, and family shelters don't have access to books like this.

Your donation helps us put Perri's Pencil Problem directly into the hands of the kids who need it most, while fueling a movement that teaches an entire generation to choose sweet words over sour ones.

Where Your Donation Goes

Book Donations - Every gift helps us send copies of Perri's Pencil Problem to elementary schools, public libraries, Title I classrooms, pediatric offices, and community centers providing resources to underserved families.

• $10 — Donates one book to a classroom or library

• $50 — Provides a classroom set of discussion guides paired with a book

• $100 — Sponsors a "Sweet Words Starter Kit" (book + Kindness Bingo + Compliment Cards + other goodies) for a full classroom

• $500 — Funds a school-wide #SaySomethingSweet assembly kit, including books, posters, and pledge cards

 

Beyond the Book - Supporting the Whole Child

Donations also help us extend the #SaySomethingSweet mission into everyday essentials for underserved communities, including:

• Back-to-School Kits — Backpacks filled with school supplies paired with a copy of Perri's Pencil Problem, so kids start the year feeling seen, supported, and ready to learn

• Hair Care & Self-Care Care Packages — Products and tools that celebrate natural hair and help kids feel confident in their identity

• Classroom Kindness Libraries — Curated collections of diverse books that promote empathy, identity, and belonging

• Educator Training Grants — Funding for teachers and counselors to bring SEL and culturally responsive curriculum into their classrooms

• Community Pledge Drives — Supplies for schools and youth organizations hosting their own Sweet Words pledge events

• Scholarship Fund — Supporting young authors and changemakers who are using their voices to make their communities kinder
